The pledge

By signing this pledge, you're joining a growing group of families in our community who are making the choice to wait until at least age 16 before giving their child a smartphone. (For us, that means a phone with internet access and app downloading.)

The pledge is anonymous - we will never share your name or contact details. We also won’t contact you unless you click to join our listserv (which we hope you do so we can stay connected as a network!)

The more families who join in, the stronger this movement becomes - helping shift the social norm and creating a safer, healthier environment for our kids to grow and thrive. Together, we’re making the choice to prioritize real-life connections, mental well-being, and balanced digital habits.

Acting in the best interests of my child and our community, I will wait until at least the age of 16 before giving them a smartphone.

Not ready to sign the pledge and want to learn more?

Join the Smart About Smartphones listserv to stay connected. We’ll share additional resources and information about local meet-ups and events, which we hope will help families navigate decisions about smartphone ownership for their children.
